The subconscious part of your mind is your slave; it is at your beck and call 24 hours a day, every single day of your life.  Right from the moment of birth, your subconscious has been at work.  Even when you are asleep, the subconscious works ceaselessly.  All your bodily functions right from the beating of your heart to your breathing is taken care of by your subconscious. It keeps you alive. The subconscious stores every bit of information you send it's way, processing several thousands of these every second.  When you require a certain piece of information out of the blue, it is the subconscious that gives it to you immediately.  When you are looking for a solution to a problem, it is once again the amazing power of the subconscious that provides it for you.

The Dance Of The Mind:

If you have ever watched a man and woman waltz, you will understand the dance of the mind. The dance is slow and graceful.  One movement leads gently into the next.  The movements of both the man and the woman are synchronized and flow gracefully right through; there is perfect harmony.  So it is with the mind.  The conscious and the subconscious levels of the mind are like the man and woman who are waltzing.  They are in perfect harmony with each other.  When this happens, happiness, health and wealth prevail.  The conscious and the subconscious must work together, hand in hand; side by side.

We are aware of the principle of action and reaction which states that where there is an action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  This is also the case of the two parts of the mind. What the conscious mind thinks, interprets and suggests to the subconscious mind must be acted upon by it with equal force.  However, if, for some reason, the subconscious mind is unable to do so, the delicate balance of the two levels of the mind is disturbed, thus causing frustration.

All desires must be fulfilled and therefore must be realistic.  Asking your subconscious to help you become an astronaut in a month is not going to get you anywhere.  This is an example of unequal balance where the input (the request made) and the output (the request granted) do not coincide with each other.  There is no harmony and no balance.

The same is the case when you consciously think negative thoughts.  The thoughts get buried in the subconscious and need to find an outlet.  They must be done.  When they are not done, frustration, worry and anger and all the negative thoughts that you thought of, get manifested in the form of diseases such as heartburn, ulcers and cancer in the body. 

In order to get your subconscious to work for you, it has to work in harmony with your conscious. 

Do not worry about your subconscious.  Control your conscious, and your subconscious will be taken care of.  You must control what you think and what you want.  You must make a conscious effort to block out all negativity and concentrate on positive thoughts always.

The subconscious mind is a sucker for suggestions; both, auto and hetero suggestions have a strong impact on it.  They are introduced to the subconscious, are absorbed, stored and acted on by it.  Positive suggestions have a positive effect and pave the way for success, while negative suggestions will have a negative impact and will eventually lead to one's downfall.

Suggestions first reach the conscious mind in the form of stimuli through the 5 senses - sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste.   The conscious level of the mind acts on these stimuli and decides what needs to be passed to the subconscious mind.  In other words, it acts as a filter by deciding which suggestions pass through it and reach the subconscious mind and which suggestions need to be ignored.

Yes, positive affirmations repeated several times are autosuggestions that will change your life for the better.  But here is the flip side: You must believe. You can repeat positive affirmations a thousand times a day and nothing will come out of it if you do not believe and feel.
Repeating positive affirmations every day, several times a day is just a part of the story of successful mind power.  In order to make autosuggestions work for you, they must be repeated with feeling and emotion.  You must have faith in these autosuggestions to such an extent that you actually feel that what you want is already happening. Concentration, a burning desire and a feverish obsession are what will get you the success you crave for.

Hetero suggestions

Hetero suggestions are those suggestions that are made by another person.  Right from the stage of infancy, we have been susceptible to and reciprocated to hetero suggestions.  Most often, these suggestions have been negative.  “You cannot do this,” “you are not capable of that,” “you are too young,” “you can’t” are just some of the common negative hetero suggestions that have rendered our subconscious mind as incapable.
Today you can erase all traces of negative suggestions and begin to sow the seeds of positive thinking.  Soon enough you will reap the benefits of using mind power to your benefit.  Now that you are aware of how you can sift both auto and hetero suggestions, make a conscious effort to push away all negativity. If you have experienced very little in the way of success up until this point in your life, it is probably because you don't think you are capable of much. Now, imagine that this goal has been achieved. Do not think about how it has been achieved. Instead, concentrate on the end result. When you think about how the goal was achieved, there are chances of negative thoughts coming into your mind. Also, the universe may not work out the process of achieving your goal the way you imagine it. Therefore, it is important to skip the 'process' and concentrate on the 'result.' By imagining the end result you are sending out more positive vibrations into the universe.
 
Imagine the Law of Attraction working in your favor. This is a constant process. Think about it as many times in a day that you can. This will enable you to keep the negative thoughts away and help you stay positive throughout the day. When you send these positive vibrations out into the universe, the universe will respond by sending back to you, what you ask for.
 
It is a misconception that once you have sent out positive vibrations into the universe, that you can sit back and wait for your goal to be achieved. Contrary to that belief, it is important to strive toward your goal. The Universe will send you several opportunities to realize your goal. Accept these opportunities to realize your dream. The functions of the conscious level are many and are often interlinked with those of the subconscious and the unconscious levels; thinking, reasoning and awareness are some of
these functions.  However, there are two special functions that are exclusively performed by the conscious.  These functions are:

i.  The ability to direct your focus
ii. The ability to imagine what does not exist


These two powerful functions can turn your life around in ways you thought were unimaginable.  Take a look at these functions in detail and see how you can benefit from them.
 The Ability to Direct Focus:

The subconscious is a slave to the conscious.  Even when you are asleep, it stays awake,
working ceaselessly and continuously. What you consciously feed it with is what it works on.  If
you feed it with negativity, then what pops up from deep within the the subconscious are all the past memories and events that bring up this feeling of negativity.  In the same manner, when you think positive thoughts, the subconscious will immediately bring up to the surface all those events that elicit positivity.  In other words, the only way to get to your subconscious is through your conscious.

The aim, therefore is to consciously direct all your focus on positive thoughts.  You will eliminate all negativity from your subconscious mind and enhance your ability to send out positive vibrations out into the Universe and thereby attract more positivity back into your life.  It’s a cycle – It’s the Law of Attraction.

But how does one think positively every waking moment?  What about all the schedules and worries that come flooding into the mind and need sorting out?  Is it humanly possible to be positive at all times?

The Working Of Human Mind

You have one mind – one mind which works on four different levels.  These levels are the conscious, subconscious, unconscious and super conscious.  Each of these levels is a part of a whole; and yet, each of these levels has its own unique powers.  By understanding how the mind works on each of these levels, you can develop greater understanding and control over it.  With this knowledge you can change how you behave, respond to unpleasant situations, gain access to a higher power and experience a whole new world of health, wealth and success.

Think of the mind as a pyramid.  The tip of the pyramid is your conscious mind.  The conscious makes up about 10% of this pyramid.  Below this comes the subconscious and makes up about 60% of the pyramid.  The base of the pyramid is made up of the unconscious and the super conscious levels that constitute the remaining 30%.

The conscious mind is the level that is awake.  It is your surface self.  People know you for who you are because they associate you with this level of your mind.  The conscious mind communicates through speech, writing and thought.  This is the objective level of the mind.  This  level of the mind can be likened to the master of a very faithful slave.  The slave is the subconscious mind.  The master (conscious) gives out orders, and the slave (subconscious) carries out these orders.  The slave carries out these orders the way it has been trained over a period of years.

In other words, the subconscious mind thinks and behaves exactly how the conscious mind wants it to think and behave.  If, consciously you believe that you are meant to be unsuccessful in life, that is exactly what your subconscious believes too and likewise sends out these negative vibrations into the universe.  The universe in turn gives you situations that will only further prove this.

The conscious mind acts on input that it receives from the outside world.  Information is transferred from here into the subconscious. The subconscious mind is the level of mind where everything that has happened in the recent past is collected and stored. It is kept here so that any information that you need instantaneously is immediately served to you by the subconscious.  This is where all your current thoughts, wants and behavior are stored.

When you consciously think of something you want, the thought is transferred to your subconscious.  If you consciously believe that you suffer from sickness (as hypochondriacs do), this thought is stored in the subconscious mind.  The subconscious mind does not have a mind of its own, and therefore believes this bit of information to be true.  This thought grows in the subconscious and manifests itself in the body in the form of sickness.  This is enough reason to stop thinking negatively and start thinking positive thoughts.
